Tree Bank Hispaniola project
I just recently spent a week on the Caribbean island of Hispaniola, shooting an educational and outreach video for the Tree Bank Hispaniola. The Tree Bank works along the Dominican Republic / Haiti border to restore native forest and improve the incomes of impoverished small-holder farmers. The video documents the group’s effort to reinvent small-scale tropical farming; the idea is to move beyond “slash and burn,” and create a community-based resource for conservation. Stayed tuned for the final edited video this fall.
The folks in the village of Los Cerezos were wonderful – very hospitable and always eager to be photographed. Here are some portraits of the farmers and kids.
